New Favorite TV Show

I finally watched the pilot to Glee on my DVR but because of American Idol's lack of scheduling discipline, I had to catch the last 5 minutes online at their website.  Glee's first episode not only entertained me but actually captured my heart and imagination in a way I haven't seen on TV for a while. That episode definitely goes up there with one of my favorite pilot episodes of all-time (which include Veronica Mars, Alias, Friday Night Lights, among others). Hopefully it's not downhill for the rest of the season. You can catch the episode online at the FOX website.

On a side note, So You Think You Can Dance starts tonight!!!

YN Journey Spring Open House 2009

This past weekend was our ministry's Open House, our seeker oriented night geared towards un-churched students. Compared to last year's Open House, this year was a more a stripped down version trying to keep everything simple and yet it seems as if the performances continued to evolved. At this rate, I'm excited to see what's in store for next year. On a side note, I realized the camcorder I used this year is pretty sucky when it comes to exposure ratings but oh well.

Here's the link to last year's Open House.

Here are some of my personal favorites from the night:

Ellen & Mindy

Jablongblong

Becca Lee

Ryan & Sharon

Below is the whole night in order of performance:

Infernal Dying Machine of Death
 - Michelle Branch's Goodbye to You

Emily Koh
 - Music Video to Yael Naim's New Soul

Sharon Chang
 - Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You

Diane Rhee
 - Norah Jones' Don't Know Why

Diane & James
 - Brooke Fraser's Deciphering Me
 - Switchfoot's This is Home

Jessica Chung (feat. Daniel Ahn)
 - Here (Original)

Infernal Dying Machine of Death
 - Yellowcard's Only One

Ellen & Mindy
 - Hillsong's The Desert Song

Jablongblong
 - Street Dance - Part I
 - Street Dance - Part II
 - Street Dance - Part III

Anna (feat. Isaac Chong)
 - Ingrid Michaelson's The Way I Am
 - Josh Radin's Sky

Becca Lee
 - Lyrical to Priscilla Ahn's Dream

Ryan & Sharon

2009 Movies (so far)

I've been trying to watch a movie a week but if it scored less than 50% on Rottentomaotes.com among Top Critics, I usually passed. I have yet to watch something I really liked (though State of Play is the closest) but of the movies I've seen in 2009 so far, here is how I rank them:
  1. State of Play - Reminded me of how much I missed Rachel McAdams
  2. I Love You, Man - Formulaic but fun
  3. Duplicity - Loved Clive Owen, Julia Roberts not so much
  4. Adventureland - Expected a comedy but instead got a drama with comedic elements
  5. Observe & Report - Though at the bottom of my list, still enjoyed it
3 Movies I'm Looking Forward to (so far):

The Hangover directed by Todd Philips
Release Date: June 5
Read the script and loved it. Thought it was well-structured and hilarious. It seems the studios loved it as well since they're already planning a sequel. Here's a link to the website.

The Hurt Locker directed by Kathryn Bigelow
Release Date: June 26 (selected NY/LA), July 10 (wide)
Been wanting to watch it since last year but didn't have a release date till now, probably because of the Iraq setting (movies about the war in Iraq haven't done well at the box office.) I also like Jeremy Renner on The Unusuals on ABC. Here's a link to the website.

An Education directed by Lone Scherfig
Release Date: October (limited)
The darling of this year's Sundance Film Festival, there hasn't been this much buzz over a movie since Little Miss Sunshine a couple years back. Also Carey Mulligan is supposedly Audrey Hepburn reincarnate - my favorite actress of all-time. Unfortunately neither a website nor trailer is up yet.

It's been a while since I last posted. Been busy with a couple things which I'll share later but first some pictures I FINALLY developed.

Eddie's Bachelor Party
Shot on Kodak PORTRA 400NC with a 50mm lens

Only pictures I was allowed to take of Eddie's Bachelor Party in Vegas

Eddie & Janet's Wedding
Shot on Kodak PORTRA 400NC with a 50mm lens

The Groom waiting for the Bride

The Bride has arrived

Eddie & Janet as Husband & Wife

So what have I been doing while I was away? Writing, biking, and tending a garden. Yes, I've been growing flowers.

My Garden
Shot on Kodak PORTRA 400NC with a 50mm & 200mm lens

I just recently added these daisies but it seems like the roses have been hogging all the water from the soil

Meet Bob, one of the water hogs

This is Bill, another of the water hogs

This is just a weed but I decided to take a picture before I executed it

Bob & Bill are in the backyard. This baby is in the front yard.
